Bailey Basham, LMSW

As a therapist – and a long-time client myself – I believe therapy is a vital component of both healing and growing. I also believe that our healing and growth must involve challenging the parts of our brains that operate from places of negativity. I read once that shame dies when stories are told in safe places. As a self-proclaimed storyteller, I understand the importance of having the opportunity to share experiences with those who can hold space for us. Based on that understanding, I am honored to sit across from clients who are often either telling their stories for the first time or giving themselves permission to rewrite their narratives.

In creating a comfortable, welcoming environment for all clients, I strive to be anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-diet, and queer-affirming. I enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, teens, neurodivergent folks, and couples. If this doesn't sound like you, but you have an interest in working together, please reach out! If you are willing to learn alongside me, I am willing to help.

My approach is eclectic – I tend to gravitate toward Internal Family Systems therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I also often incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills into treatment. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, general trauma and religious trauma, body positivity/fat-acceptance, self-esteem and boundary setting.

Change is scary, and often, even the discomfort we’ve become used to is familiar enough to begin talking us out of making positive change. Before that nervous part of your brain talks you out of trying, give me a call. I’ve got a spot on my schedule just for you, and I’m happy to help and answer any questions you may have.
